72
If you’re shopping for new lighting fixtures, consider a brushed nickel chandelier. These lovely fixtures have a beautiful finish that compliments just about any décor you might use. You can find brushed nickel chandeliers in many different styles and sizes, and with careful shopping, you’re sure to find one to fit your budget, as well.
What is brushed nickel?
Nickel plating is often used over brass. Once the plating has been completed, it’s coated with special lacquers to give it a somewhat dull appearance. In other words, the finish is not shiny – it’s matte. Because of its soft finish, brushed nickel is also referred to as satin nickel.
Brushed or satin nickel is a popular finish for a wide range of home décor and fixtures, including lighting, ceiling fans, doorknobs, door plates, hinges, faucets, and switch plates.
The advantages of brushed nickel
Brushed nickel has a warm appearance, due to its undertones. Many metals have blue undertones, which make them appear “cold.” Brushed nickel, however, has warm golden undertones.
Fixtures with a brushed nickel finish are often more expensive than other types of lighting, but consider the brushed nickel an investment. The finish will remain attractive and functional for decades, and it requires little maintenance. Because of its matte finish, brushed nickel doesn’t show dust and fingerprints like lots of other finishes, so this means a lot less dusting and wiping.
Brushed nickel chandeliers will go with practically any décor, and it looks especially appropriate with antiques and period reproductions. On the other hand, there are sleek, ultra chic styles that would be perfect with modern décor.
Brushed nickel chandeliers
Brushed nickel chandeliers are very popular with homeowners. They add a touch of class and sophistication to any room in the house. They’re often found in foyers, where they greet guests with their warm good looks. For a large foyer, you might choose a large chandelier with several ornate tiers. For a smaller foyer, small chandeliers with fewer tiers are available.
Brushed nickel chandeliers are also popular in upscale kitchens and bathrooms, where they really make a statement! The finish is a great companion to stainless steel appliances, which of course, are often found in modern kitchens. Understated chandeliers without ornaments are most often selected for kitchens and baths.
For a formal living room, a brushed nickel chandelier is a wonderful choice. The ornaments that dangle from the metal frame come in several materials, including marble, frosted glass, etched glass, and crystal.
The chandelier bulbs themselves are varied in style, too. Some are shaped like candle flames, while others have their own individual diminutive lamp shades. Globes range from clear glass to white opaque glass to colored glass.
Are brushed nickel chandeliers expensive?
Chandeliers in brushed nickel can be very affordable. Small, simple chandeliers in this finish can be found for around $200. A large seven-tiered brushed nickel chandelier with authentic crystal ornaments or prisms can cost several thousand dollars.
Because of their increasing popularity among homeowners, prices are bound to increase due to supply and demand. Adding some tasteful elegance to your home is easy with a brushed nickel chandelier.
